Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of work stress on readiness to change with coping strategies as a moderating variable. We used a cross-sectional survey design for 124 archivists, 58 men, and 66 women. For data analysis, we conducted regression and moderation analysis. We collected data using a questionnaire consisting of three measuring tools: Job Stress Scale (JSS), Readiness for Change Scale, and Brief-Cope. The results showed that work stress significantly affected readiness to change, with a coefficient of determination of 86.4%. Adaptive coping strategies act as moderators and strengthen the effect of work stress on readiness to change with an increase in the coefficient of determination to 87.9% and a beta coefficient of .020. However, maladaptive coping strategies cannot act as a moderator in the effect of job stress on readiness to change.

Abstract

Technological development have created a virtual-based community that allows community members to not always interact directly. This can affect the quality of friendship and group cohesiveness because there is no physical closeness between members. Group cohesiveness is needed so that members remain in the community they follow and achieve community goals. One of the things related to being able to affect group cohesiveness is the friendship between its members. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between the quality of friendship and cohesiveness in students in virtual communities in the field of mental health. This research uses quantitative methods with correlational research types. Respondents in this study were students who were active in the virtual community X with a total of 106 members. The instrument in this study consisted of a Friendship Quality (FQUA) and Group Environment Questionnaire (GEQ) scale. The data analysis technique in this study used the Pearson product moment correlation test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the quality of friendship and cohesiveness among students in virtual community X.

Abstract

Various pressures and problems at work require employees to develop resilience in the workplace. This also applies to millennial employees. Some of the things that are thought to affect resilience in the workplace are social capital and emotion regulation. The purpose of this study was to empirically measure the effect of social capital and emotional regulation on workplace resilience in millennial employees. The participants in this study were 184 millennial employees aged 26 to 41 years who work in Greater Jakarta. The measuring tool used is the resilience at work scale of Winwood (2013), the social capital scale from Wang et al. (2013), and the emotion regulation scale from Radde et al. (2021). Correlation matrix and multiple regression were used to analyze the data. The results of this study show that social capital and emotional regulation jointly affect workplace resilience in millennial employees. Other findings also reveal that the magnitude of the influence of emotion regulation on resilience in the workplace is greater than social capital.

Abstract

The phenomenon of underage driving closely related to parental consent. This study aimed to describe the dynamics of mothers of junior high school students in giving riding permits to their children. Using the explanatory sequential mixed methods (QUAN-qual), this study was carried out in three phases. Phase 1 was a quantitative study using an online questionnaire, with a total of 496 participants. Data analysis used chi square and Odds Ratio. Phase 2 is a qualitative study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three mothers of junior high school students. The results of the interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. Meanwhile, phase 3 was data integration using joint displays. The findings show that the child’s age is the basis for the mother’s consideration in making the decision to allow the child to drive. In making her decision, the mother primarily considers her husband’s approval, as well as her perception of the benefits, risks, and traffic violations. Environmental and household characteristics play a role in shaping the  mother's  perception. This study needs to be followed up with the development of parent-based interventions.

Abstract

This study aims to see the effectiveness of appropriate virtual reality therapy methods to reduce level of social anxiety disorder in individuals. This research method is a meta-analysis based on the PRISMA-P 2020 procedure. This research involved 7 previous experimental studies that used virtual reality therapy as an intervention in reducing social anxiety disorder. The result of this study is that the virtual reality therapy method has a large effect size in reducing individual social anxiety disorder. Virtual reality therapy should be combined with other interventions such as cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based warm-ups and individuals are encouraged to do self-reflection to reduce the level of social anxiety disorder they experience.

Abstract

Single mothers have difficult conditions that can trigger emotional experiences, such as supporting their own families, energy and time constraints, negative views of society, and the vulnerability of single mothers as women in terms of emotions. This makes it thought that single mothers need to have the ability to survive and have the quality to bounce back during the condition by regulated emotions. The study aims to explore the influence of emotion regulation, specifically cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression strategies, in helping single mothers increase resilience. The study used quantitative research methods, with the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 25 items. The results found that there was a significant influence between both emotional regulation strategies on single mother resilience, with cognitive reappraisal strategies exerting a greater influence. Single mothers need to practice expressive suppression emotion regulation strategy skills, so that single mother resilience can be more optimal when single mothers are able to apply each emotional regulation strategy adaptively to their difficult conditions.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many countries implemented health protocols and implemented lockdowns several times. This causes changes in learning activities, thus requiring special teaching methods. Teachers are required to be creative in conveying material through online (online) learning media. Likewise, teachers and students who initially studied face-to-face are now forced to study from home online. This can cause teachers to feel pressured. Gratitude and social support received (perceived social support) can help teachers overcome the problems they face. This study aims to determine the role of teacher gratitude and teacher perceived social support for teacher subjective well-being during a pandemic. This research was conducted using an electronic questionnaire aimed at 202 teachers who teach at secondary level schools with an age range of 20-46 years. The measurement tools used are the Gratitude Questionnaire Revised-Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (R-MSPSS), and the Teacher Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire (TSWQ). As a result of the study, gratitude has a significant role in the teacher’s subjective well variable, as well as perceived social support. The role of the PSS dimension in the TSWQ variable is only seen in the family dimension which has a positive and significant value. Perceived social support and gratitude have a positive and significant role in teacher subjective well-being. The higher the value of perceived social support and gratitude, the higher the subjective well-being.

Abstract

Work and family problems in working adults are very complex during this pandemic, especially for those who are married and have children. Many role demands must be met from the work and family domains or are called work-family conflicts. The consequences of ongoing work-family conflict can be detrimental to individual health physically and psychologically, so prevention efforts are made by examining the role of the antecedent variables, namely work-family climate and work-family overload on work-family conflict. This study aims to examine the role of work-family climate and work-family overload on work-family conflict. The method used is quantitative. The research subjects were BPR Central Java and DIY employees. Statistical analysis with multiple regression tests. The sampling method uses simple random sampling. The results showed that there was a significant influence between work-family climate, work-family overload and work-family conflict on BPR employees (Rsquare = 0.505 p < 0.001). Work-family overload greatly influences work-family conflict ( r= 0.69) and work-family climate contributes (r = -0.22) to reducing work-family conflict among employees. These two variables contribute 50.5% to work-family conflict among BPR employees in Central Java and DIY. The ability of BPR employees to manage work-family conflict can prevent the consequences of work-family conflict, such as protecting their physical and psychological health so that they are able to improve their performance and quality of life in the post-pandemic period.
